Employee Fired For Refusing To Wear Makeup

Sad but true – a woman who worked for a restaurant in Mission Valley, San Diego, California, was fired recently for because she refused to wear makeup on the job. She reportedly said “I have never worn makeup in my life. I just don’t like it. When (the boss) told me I need to dress like I am going out with the man of my dreams, that did it for me.

To top it off, it seems her employer may be within his legal right to fire her for this reason, this despite a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling several years ago that it is not discriminatory for employers to require women wear makeup. The woman is reportedly looking into her legal options at this time.

How Quickly To Change Bedroom Furniture

Earlier this year, I was on a home decor and furniture buying binge, and got the XII NOTTE Bedroom Furniture Set by San Tiziano (Italy) by NYC Concept Furniture. They offer high quality modern designer furniture from Italy, Germany, Spain and Belgium. Well, yesterday I made the mistake of going back to their website to see if they had anything new … BIG MISTAKE. That visit now has me wondering if it’s normal to want to completely change a bedroom set in just a few months. Whether we can afford it or not is a whole other matter.

This new Tatami Italian bedroom furniture set by San Tiziano literally has me drooling. Check out the picture below. Really and truly, if you want modern furniture from Europe NYC Concept Furniture is your sure shot. I’m pondering calling them to see if I can somehow exchange what I bought a few months ago for the Tatami set. Go check ‘em out online, they’ve got everything for the home – furniture for kids, office furniture, entertainment centers, living room sets, bedroom sets, dining room furniture, TV stands, closets, wardrobes, you name it!

She Tried To Save Her Make Up

Here’s some horrifying makeup-related news out of Colorado Springs – a woman who was having an early morning cigarette in her parked car, was pistol-whipped by a robber after he grabbed her makeup bag and she tried to hang on to it. The incident happened at about 5 a.m. yesterday morning.

Apparently the robber thought her bag of cosmetics (which was on the floor of the car) was a purse containing money, and he became agitated when she resisted. He then pistol-whipped her, ran to a car and took off. The woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Conserve Water Today

I try to be as ‘green’ (i.e eco-friendly) as possible with our day-to-day life; we’ve got a solar water heater and sidewalk lights, we’re planning to get one of those new hybrid cars … the works … we’re serious. One aspect that I recently implemented was with regard to watering our plants. We seem to take water for granted here in America, but did you know that an American taking a five-minute shower uses more water than the typical person living in a developing country slum uses in a whole day? I don’t take water for granted, and I saw that lots of rain water that could be saved for another day was just going to waste.

So I implemented a rain harvesting system that uses several cool and cleverly disguised rain barrels to store water for use in the future. I got mine through simplyrainbarrels.com, and they offer several cool rain barrel options – from the plain, regular, plastic barrel design to real well designed ones that look like flower pots or garden fixtures. Get a rain barrel and conserve water today! Do your part to save our country and our planet for our children, and their children :)

Summer’s Almost Here – Get Planting!

Summer’s almost here, Spring’s warming up so if you haven’t started prepping your garden yet, hop to it! If you’re looking for planters, I just came across Planterixchange (Planter Exchange) which offers a wide selection of high quality residential (and commercial) planters that you can buy directly online. I’m not so big on having an indoor planter, but for the outdoors, my front garden has to look good … throughout the summer.

Through Planter Exchange, I got a few outdoor planters and window box planters. The window box planters were mounted on our deck (yep, you can get an optional deck rail kit, depending on your type selection). The outdoor ones were the really cool square/box-type that fit perfectly at each side of the entrance to our front porch. Now to get my flowers going!
