The Blu_Ray Makeup Collection

A Toronto-based company, Cargo Cosmetics, has created a new line of makeup called the Blu_Ray Collection. It gets its name from the Blu-ray high-def DVD disc format, because of the need for makeup that’s specifically formulated for those who’re under the television and camera spotlight regularly.

The advent of HD television, high-definition cameras and other technological improvements has brought unprecedented clarity of viewing, but it has also helped to zoom in and bring focus on marks, blemishes and wrinkles that might otherwise have gone unseen. Thus, to counter these limitations of traditional makeup, along comes the Blu_Ray Collection, said to be the newest in the generation of lightweight makeup that looks good on television and in front of the digital camera, and also has everyday wear benefits.

The Blu_Ray collection is based on cosmetics that contain photo-chromatic pigments and micronized light diffusers. Please translate? Photo-chromatic pigments are “ultra fine, micronized minerals that automatically color-correct makeup, so that colors stay consistent in all types of lighting.” For photo media professionals, this means fewer makeup changes than used to be required in order to counter any changes in lighting. Micronized light diffusers also help “to create a natural glow that is not glittery or shiny.”

Benefits of Mineral Makeup

Mineral makeup has definitely taken the world by storm. While it has been around for over 30 years, mineral makeup has re-emerged in recent times as a new and important aspect of a global beauty culture that’s dedicated to better living. What makes mineral makeup different from other types of makeup? Well, unlike most of these traditional makeup products, mineral makeup is based on a hypo-allergenic loose powder that naturally nourishes the skin, and contains no alcohol, dyes, perfumes, talc, mineral oil or preservatives.

Here are some of the obvious benefits of mineral makeup:

  1. It’s good for sensitive skin. Many women are affected by acne, allergies, dryness and even clogged pores that are caused by more traditional makeup. Mineral makeup products are less likely to clog your pores and definitely allow your skin to breathe. Since most mineral makeup products don’t contain oil, it’s the perfect solution for women with oily skin. It’s good for acne-prone skin, because the minerals are inert, therefore they don’t support bacteria growth.
  2. They tend to feel ‘light’ on your face. Many women claim that wearing mineral makeup feels like you’re not even wearing any makeup. It’s a beautiful thing when your makeup doesn’t feel like a mask!
  3. They are weather-friendly, i.e. the minerals are usually water-resistant, and reflect sunlight, thus helping to create an overall healthy glow. Mineral makeup products are also said to contain a natural protection against harmful UV rays.
  4. They have multiple uses. Mineral foundations and powders typically have more than one use. In one easy application, you may get the coverage of a foundation, concealer and sunscreen.
