Makeup “tryvertising” by mail

“Tryvertising” is a simple concept where consumers can sign up to receive special product samples to test out at home each month. UK-based Latest in Beauty has rolled out an interesting tryvertising concept. Consumers who sign up with Latest in Beauty begin by completing a detailed questionnaire about their natural coloring, needs and preferences. They can then browse the Latest in Beauty website for products that match their profile, and read new product reviews (from an independent panel). Based on what they see, consumers can then choose up to three samples to try at home each month.

Later, Latest in Beauty sends an email to the consumer, requesting feedback. This feedback is then sent to the cosmetics brands themselves. Unfortunately, Latest in Beauty is open only to UK users just now. Users must pay £1 by text message from a UK-based mobile phone to cover postage and handling of each shipment of samples.

Best Acne Treatments

Most of us have been unlucky enough to be afflicted by acne at some stage of our lives. Some of us are still affected by acne, even in adulthood. What are some of the best acne treatments? Below, we take a quick look at two of the best over-the-counter acne treatment options.

  1. Salicylic acid products. Salicylic acid works by removing the top layers of dead skin cells. This helps the skin to renew itself quickly, and helps reduce the chance for pore blockage and a second acne breakout. By far the most popular Salicylic acid product is Proactiv Solution which is sold by Guthy Renker.
  2. Benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide destroys acne causing bacteria that’s located deep within the pores. It is undoubtedly one of the more common acne treatment options.

Cargo’s Green Makeup

Cargo has a new Botanical lipstick collection called PlantLove. It’s “Green makeup” because its compostable tube is made from corn, its package is impregnated with flower seeds so you can tear it up into little pieces and plant it, and $2 of its $20 price tag goes to fund medical research for kids. Too cool :)
