The Christmas party season is just around the corner, and as always, tis the season to look spectacular! But hey, it’s hard to look spectacular when you’re being rushed through the door by a hasty hubby. Well, here’s our quick tip on how to get your party makeup on and looking good in five minutes TOPS!

Make your eyes – using a small shadow brush, smudge black shadow along your top and bottom lashlines – blending color into the tops of lashes. Add a touch of silver shimmer shadow to the inner corners of your eyes – to help brighten up your entire face. Suggestions – L’Oreal Wear Infinite Single Shadows in Lush Raven and Pure Silver.

Give your lashes a boost – curl your top lashes, then give them two coats of a thickening and lengthening formula. For extra ooophm, sweep one coat onto lower lashes, concentrating on the outer corners. Suggestion – Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill For Mascara.

Perfect your complexion – apply compact cream foundation to your cheeks, chin and nose. Use a brush or sponge to blend well. Let it double as concealer, and add a touch more under the eyes and on blemishes. Suggestion – Urban Decay Surreal Skin Cream to Powder Foundation.

Add some sparkle – dust shimmer powder onto your cheekbones and across your décolleté – add a bit of holiday glam! Suggestion – Too Faced After Glow Ice Cubes.

Set that pout – add red lip color, blending the edges with your fingertip to keep your look fresh. Suggestion – try a shade from Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani.

Summer’s almost done, but you’ve still got at least another two or three weeks to enjoy the warmth of the season. Here are a few summer beauty tips for you.

Take care of your skin – eat the right foods and maintain a good skincare regimen. Strawberries are good for the skin, pomegranate contains important vitamins and nutrients, nuts are full of good fatty acids and blackberries are called ‘wrinkle-fighting’ berries because they contain antioxidants and prevent the cell damage that leads to wrinkles.

Take care of your face – don’t overcleanse and overscrub it since that may cause flakiness and dryness.

Take care of your body – use your body oils right after a bath or shower, and if you don’t have body oils, you can use olive oil, rice bran oil, coconut oil or even almond oil to pamper your skin.

Stay fit – go to the gym, stretch regularly (to lengthen your muscles and burn calories), try Pilates (simple exercises that focus on the center of the body), walk regularly (around the block, up & down the stairs etc.), try your hand at dancing maybe even once per week.

Don’t forget the makeup – makeup enhances every woman’s beauty. Start your day by using a hydrating cleanser, a gentle toner and a moisturizer with SPF to help keep your face clean and fresh.

Enjoy!

Here’s a quick step-by-step guide to a great summer makeup look that accentuates the eyes; get those ’summer eyes’!

Keep the rest of your face neutral; start with a layer of primer to give a nice matte surface. Take a brush and pack on some gold eye shadow – something that’s really vibrant – to just above the eye crease, then take a blender brush and, starting from the outer corner, and blend in along the lid.

Use your finger to dab a tiny amount of primer below your eye. Then, take a dark green eye shadow and, using an angled liner brush, sketch a line from the outer edge.

Get some glow. Try taking a creamy eyeliner pencil and draw it along the waterline. Get some definition with a coat of mascara – to yout lower lashes, too. The aim is to get wispy, defined lashes.

And finally, give yourself one coat of lip gloss. Try a a tea-colored one which doesn’t look too shimmery. To finish up and for an even fresher look, trying adding a dusting of light bronzer.

Below I’ll take you through a couple quick steps to help in choosing the right blush shade for your skin:

Shade vs tone – When choosing the right blush hue for your skin tone, you should try to find a shade that matches the natural coloration or flush of your cheeks that happens after exercise or any period of physical exertion (when you feel hot and flustered). Generally, peach and pink hues work well for fair or cool skin tones, while reds and plums enhance darker or warmer tones. Medium skin tones allow for the most variety – try deep golden pinks.

Cream, liquid or powder? – Blush comes in a few different formulas, and each will give a different finish depending on your skin type. It is important first to identify your skin type, which should fall into one of these four major categories – dry, oily, normal or combination. Powders are most luminescent and long-lasting on oily, normal or combination skin types. For dry skin, a cream formula generally works best and liquids are good for normal or combination types.

That’s all for now, stay beautiful!

Wondering how to get perfect lashes? Follow these simple steps:

Start with an eyelash curler. Set it as close as possible to the base of the lashes … do this before applying the mascara in order to prevent any chance of breakage. All you need is one or two pumps – because you really don’t want to wind up with crimped lashes.

Now for the mascara – After taking the wand out of the tube, remove the excess from the end of the brush, using either the opening of the tube or a piece of tissue. Lay the wand on top of the upper lashes. Be sure to set the brush as close to the base of the lashes as possible. Then, lightly shake your hand so the lashes settle in between the bristles. Then, slowly roll the wand between your thumb and forefinger – this will pull the lashes up and into the wand. Once the wand is properly placed, wiggle it from left to right as you slowly pull the wand up through the lashes.

Now for the lash comb – while the mascara is still wet, lay a clean lash comb on the lashes and quickly pull it through to separate the lashes. It’s very important that you let this coat fully dry before applying the next coat. This will prevent that ‘clumpy’ look that sometimes happens. Three coats is usually best.

Last step – using what is left over on the brush, sweep a single light coat onto the bottom lashes. Go easy for the lower lashes (less is more for these lower lashes!)

FYI also, very often mascara runs because it slides into concealers and/or eye creams. You can prevent this by sealing them. How? By dusting a healthy layer of translucent powder – like Cover FX Setting Powder ($32 at sephora.com) – under and over the eyes!

Cleanse then moisturize your face

Apply a foundation that matches your complexion

For your eyes, use “in” earth tones such as shades of brown and gold

Highlight the brow bone to upper lash line with the preferred shade of gold

From the crease to eyelid, add brown shadow then blend the colors

Line your eyes (top & bottom) – with a brown or light-brown liner … then smudge. Lines should not be too thick, and should be as close to the lash line as possible

Apply mascara to your lashes then fill brows with brow powder (dark-brown colored)

Soften jaw lines with blush – apply to your cheeks (be sure to smile while applying your blush

Line your lips with a neutral color (to help define them)

Use something clear on lips or, for a little color, you could try applying a little pink or gold lip gloss

And there you have it … 10 steps to beauty that you can follow every morning or whenever. Good luck, and stay beautiful!

Of course you can wear makeup to the gym … without worrying that it’s going to run all over the place when you get sweaty and messy. Here are the perfect gym makeup solutions for you:

Use a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation. This way you can get some color without worrying that it will run faster than you can jog. If you absolutely MUST wear foundation, then try to find one that’s sweat-proof and/or oil-free or gel/silicone based.

Forget about using blush and bronzer – in any case, you’ll have a nice natural flush / glow from the workout itself.

For the eyes, you can try gel or liquid based formulas.

Try also – waterproof mascara and liquid eyeliner.

Last but not least, put a little tinted chapstick on to give your lips a natural rosy hue.

Hope you found these gym makeup tips useful

From magazines to movies to television, we’re surrounded by beautiful women with seemingly flawless-looking faces. Then you wonder what happened with you? Fret now, you are perfectly normal, it’s just a tiny percentage of persons that actually have a blemish-free flawless-looking face. And even then, if you look closely, I’m sure you’ll see many flaws.

So how do us imperfect women get that flawless face look? Thanks to the wonders of makeup, it’s actually possible, here are my own few secrets on getting that flawless face look:

Use a tinted moisturizer. This will help to cover up your minor imperfections, while still allowing your skin to breathe. It also has the added benefit of SPF30 to protect you from the harmful rays of the sun (i.e. reduce chances of early wrinkling, age spots and skin cancer)

Use a bronzer – especially if you have pale skin. A bronzer will help to give you that perfect “sun-kissed glow”, while also helping to contour your face and highlight your cheekbones. Powdered bronzers are typically easier to apply, and with just a few swishes on your cheekbones, forehead and chin, you’ll be all set to go.

Use a concealer – as the name implies, it helps to conceal things.
i.e. conceal blemishes.
A concealer is great for hiding those ugly circles under your eyes and simply helping you to look refreshed and alert, especially on those downer mornings.

Hope these tips were useful and good luck on your quest for that flawless-looking face.

Mineral makeup is a hot trend for 2009. For those of us who want that natural look, or matte finish, this is the product for you. The trick however is application of this natural-based organic product, but what’s the best way to apply mineral makeup? Please note, if you don’t apply your make up correctly, you obviously will not end up looking the way you intended; and we definitely wouldn’t want that now, would we?

Things that you’ll need in order to apply your Mineral Makeup

•	Foundation
•	Setting Powder
•	Blush
•	Eye Shadow
•	Eye Liner
•	Mascara
•	Lipstick
•	Kabuki Brush
•	Eyeliner Brush
•	Finishing powder
•	Mineral concealer
•	Mineral brush

Steps – How to Apply Mineral Makeup

1.	Cleanse face thoroughly – Before you begin applying any makeup, your face should be clean and free of excess oils. Use a cleanser that will not dry out your skin.

2.	Moisturize your face – Mineral powder adheres to the natural oil of your skin, so if your face is too dry, the powder could end up looking like just what it is, powder, and you don’t want that. So apply moisturizer and wait a few minutes, and allow it to completely absorb before applying your mineral makeup.

3.	Apply concealer – Concealers help to cover any blemishes or dark spots you may have. Pour a small amount of mineral concealer into the cap of the jar which will prevent you from using too much. For best results use a shade lighter than your foundation.

4.	Apply foundation – Swirl kabuki brush in the cap. Tap the brush to get rid of excess powder. This brush is excellent for coverage of large areas of your face. Use the kabuki brush to apply foundation in a circular motion on face and neck area as needed. Start lightly on the cheeks and then gently move to the sides of your face. The brush will allow the powder to hold to your skin. Your coverage is dependent on how much you buff, so reapply to any areas you feel may need more coverage. You may repeat this process with your mineral brush for enhancement to your cheeks if desired.

5.	Apply Blush – You will need a large makeup brush to apply your blush. Add a little blush to your brush and starting at your cheekbone, brush the blush from your hair line going down to the apple of the cheek. Do not go back and forth as you may end up with streaks across the cheeks.

6.	Apply setting powder – This is applied just as how you apply your foundation. Setting powder allows makeup to stay longer on your face. It really makes a difference when used. You could try ‘Mineral Veil’ by Bare Minerals which is really good.

7.	Apply finishing powder – You may follow up with a finishing powder for that perfect matte finish if you desire.

Helpful Tips
•	Use a moisturizer that will not clog your pores.
•	If you have oily skin you can use the setting powder as a base as it absorbs oil naturally from the skin
•	Apply eyeliner before your foundation for best results.
•	Choose a foundation that is as close as possible to your skin color; remember the idea is to look natural. Always apply foundation in light layers for the best coverage.
•	Apply mineral eye shadow using lighter colors under the brow and the darker colors on the lid.
•	Use quality mascara to improve the look of your lashes. Mascaras with keratin are said to be healthy for your lashes.
•	When applying lipstick use a natural colored pencil to line lips and then fill in with lipstick making sure to blend in liner with lipstick or gloss.
•	A mineral brush which is smaller than the kabuki brush is great to use when concealing.
•	Mineral makeup is great for those of you who have skin conditions such as eczema or acne as it is said to have some healing properties.

Okay, now you’re all set. Just remember that once your makeup is applied properly, it gives you an unblemished flawless finish that does not look like makeup at all, but looks as though you have beautiful, healthy skin that has been enhanced. Now isn’t that what you want? You know it is! Stay beautiful.

Here’s your Smokey Eyes Makeup Tip update. Want to know how to get that perfect ‘Smokey’ eye effect with your makeup? If you don’t know how to do it, we’ll tell you how.

Goal
In order to create the perfect ‘Smokey’ eyes, your goal is to make the lid area dark, and highlight the brow area. This will draw instant attention to your eyes. Obviously, you can’t use light colors in order to create this effect, you must use dark shade colors. Note too, it’s not entirely about the darkness of the color, but more about the “drama” in how you make it look.

Tools Needed
Medium gray eye shadow, dark eye shadow, black mascara, black eyeliner, and base eye shadow.

Steps

Apply your eyeliner

Apply the main eye shadow on the whole eyelid. Be sure to blend it

Take your medium color eye shadow and apply it to the eyelid as well

Apply your black mascara. Be sure to use three coats.

Presto, that’s it. Visual aides will be added to this post soon. The most important smokey eyes makeup tip to remember is “blending” factor. You have to keep blending and experiment in order to achieve the perfect sexy smokey eyes effect.
