How about sparking your own fireworks this 4th of July? Whether you’re going boating all day, or to a family picnic at the beach, or even later on that night to go watch the fireworks, you can make your own sparks fly with my special 4th of July beauty tips.

Step 1 – Start with a cleanser that suits your skin. How about one that’s a comforting blend of milk and oats and that’s also great for dry sensitive skin.

Step 2 – Follow-up with a cool face moisturizer. How about one that has an SPF 30 and is loaded with antioxidants and blueberries.

Step 3 – How about a gel cleanser that really leaves your skin silky and smooth – and squeaky clean as well.

Step 4 – Moisturize with a matifying lotion – which is perfect for oily skin. It’ll moisturize, and most importantly, without the shine.

Step 5 – It’s July and it’s warm and you don’t want to put on too much make up, but you can keep looking cool by using a light tinted moisturizer or bronzer

Step 6 – Next sweep a neutral color over your lids, and just dot a darker shade such along the lash line.

Step 7 – Add a few strokes of mascara … make your eyes POP like a firecracker!

Step 8 – Last but not least, your lips – try a high-shine tinted lip gloss … great for hot summer days, and guaranteed to have eyes glued to your lips and smile. You can try switching to a darker shade when night falls.

That’s it … now you’re definitely ready to spark some of your own fireworks this 4th of July. Have fun and be safe!

Some of us are still buried under feet or inches of snow, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start thinking and dreaming of what our Spring makeup will look like this year. Here are some spring makeup tips for you:

Go for “the glow” – Spring makeup brings out the rosy glow that winter had taken away from your face. Begin the glow regimen with a skincare masque to hydrate your dull, dehydrated winter skin.

Use a tinted moisturizer as foundation – and try even going a shade darker than your natural complexion (to add warmth).

A bronzer is ESSENTIAL – apply a light dusting of bronzer where the sun would naturally hit the face – cheek bones, bridge of nose, forehead and chin.

Stay away from terracotta orange bronzers of the past – opt for more natural brown tones.

Don’t be too obvious – Class favors the look of rosy pink blush worn under bronzer. It mimicks an afternoon spent in the sun, without the obvious “made up” look.

Your eyes should shimmer – Eyes for spring are awash in light, luminescent finishes, not heavy liner and dark shadows. Try neutral shades such as copper, gold or champagne lit with sparkle (to flatter all skin tones and ages). Add a touch of shine to the eyes’ inner corners using an almost-white, shimmery powder or cream. Class also favors a bare-eyed look, with minimal shadow and a coat of mascara – to allow glowing skin to take center stage.

Brush your lips – A gentle brush will exfoliate dry lips and give a plumping effect.

More lip power – A bit of neutral shimmery eye shadow drawn very subtly over the top lip can accentuate the shape. Also, using a pearly gloss dabbed just in the center of the lip will help to make them look fuller.

Spring 2009 colors – Glowing, soft and feminine are all the buzz for the face of spring 2009. Here are the colors that will help you to get there – Gold, Peach and Lilac.

That’s all for today .. hope you found these Spring makeup tips useful!

Summer’s almost here, and what better way to stay beautiful and beat the heat, than with sweat-proof makeup. If you’re heading to the pool, beach or lake, then waterproof makeup is a must. However, a day in the park, backyard barbeque, a summer wedding or any other outdoor type events or activities require sweat-proof makeup.

Tinted Moisturizers
For a sunny summer day, you don’t need a lot of makeup, so trying switching your liquid foundation to a tinted moisturizer instead. Tinted moisturizers serve a double purpose in that they can hydrate your skin and also cover imperfections. Two recommendations: Clinique Moisture Sheer Tint and Juice Beauty SPF 30 Tinted Moisturizer. Clinique Moisture Sheer Tint is a truly natural beauty product. It is made with organic white grape and pomegranate juices and will supply your skin with antioxidants and essential nutrients. Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer is a long-lasting tinted moisturizer that can “take the heat”. It offers sun protection and see-through color to help even out your skin for a flawless finish. Both these products are available at SEPHORA.

The Trish McEvoy Protective Shield Moisturizer is a long-lasting and sweat-proof product that’s perfect for wearing to the beach, ball games and other outdoor events.

Eye Makeup
Eyeshadow tends to crease and smear in heat and humidity. So you should always be sure to use a primer as a base for your eye shadow. Apply the primer over your entire lid and extend upwards to the brow bone. Curl your eyelashes and then add one coat of smudge-proof mascara. You can skip the eyeliner during the daytime.

Lips & Cheeks
Keep your lip and cheek color light and simple. If you’re wearing a bronzer, you can drop the cheek color. If not, use a light shade of blush (powder, not cream or gel because they fade in the heat) just on the apples of your cheek. For lips, use a tinted lip balm or pink lip gloss instead of lipstick. Gloss will last longer if you apply a light dusting of translucent powder before application.

Last word on staying fresh in the heat
If you are going to spend prolong periods in the sunlight, look for makeup with SPF-15 or higher. Always carry blotting papers to rid your skin of oil and freshen makeup throughout the day. Always wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. Consider wearing a hat to protect your hair and scalp, as well as to shade your face.

The 1940s – 70s were revolutionary decades for makeup. Today, many try to recreate the classic movie star makeup effects of those time periods. Below, we outline some of the more important elements of vintage makeup styles.

Pouty red lips – undoubtedly a staple of the classic movie star look

Rosy cheeks – another must-have component of vintage makeup beauty styles

Enticing eyes – back then, a lot was told through the eyes, not just the swing of the hips. From a makeup perspective, there are said to be three secrets to dazzling eyes: bold eyeliner, lush lashes and a sheer and iridescent shadow

A couple parting tips as well: (1) Always remember to curl your eyelashes before you apply mascara … and for lashes, bigger is better (2) For eyeliner, the trick is to start from the inner corner of the lid and line along the lash line, following the contour of the eye. To get a stronger effect, apply slightly heavier at the outer corners of the eye.
