Vintage Makeup Styles

The 1940s - 70s were revolutionary decades for makeup. Today, many try to recreate the classic movie star makeup effects of those time periods. Below, we outline some of the more important elements of vintage makeup styles.

  1. Pouty red lips - undoubtedly a staple of the classic movie star look
  2. Rosy cheeks - another must-have component of vintage makeup beauty styles
  3. Enticing eyes - back then, a lot was told through the eyes, not just the swing of the hips. From a makeup perspective, there are said to be three secrets to dazzling eyes: bold eyeliner, lush lashes and a sheer and iridescent shadow

A couple parting tips as well: (1) Always remember to curl your eyelashes before you apply mascara … and for lashes, bigger is better (2) For eyeliner, the trick is to start from the inner corner of the lid and line along the lash line, following the contour of the eye. To get a stronger effect, apply slightly heavier at the outer corners of the eye.
