Summer’s almost here, and what better way to stay beautiful and beat the heat, than with sweat-proof makeup. If you’re heading to the pool, beach or lake, then waterproof makeup is a must. However, a day in the park, backyard barbeque, a summer wedding or any other outdoor type events or activities require sweat-proof makeup.
Tinted Moisturizers
For a sunny summer day, you don’t need a lot of makeup, so trying switching your liquid foundation to a tinted moisturizer instead. Tinted moisturizers serve a double purpose in that they can hydrate your skin and also cover imperfections. Two recommendations: Clinique Moisture Sheer Tint and Juice Beauty SPF 30 Tinted Moisturizer. Clinique Moisture Sheer Tint is a truly natural beauty product. It is made with organic white grape and pomegranate juices and will supply your skin with antioxidants and essential nutrients. Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer is a long-lasting tinted moisturizer that can “take the heat”. It offers sun protection and see-through color to help even out your skin for a flawless finish. Both these products are available at SEPHORA.
The Trish McEvoy Protective Shield Moisturizer is a long-lasting and sweat-proof product that’s perfect for wearing to the beach, ball games and other outdoor events.
Eye Makeup
Eyeshadow tends to crease and smear in heat and humidity. So you should always be sure to use a primer as a base for your eye shadow. Apply the primer over your entire lid and extend upwards to the brow bone. Curl your eyelashes and then add one coat of smudge-proof mascara. You can skip the eyeliner during the daytime.
Lips & Cheeks
Keep your lip and cheek color light and simple. If you’re wearing a bronzer, you can drop the cheek color. If not, use a light shade of blush (powder, not cream or gel because they fade in the heat) just on the apples of your cheek. For lips, use a tinted lip balm or pink lip gloss instead of lipstick. Gloss will last longer if you apply a light dusting of translucent powder before application.
Last word on staying fresh in the heat
If you are going to spend prolong periods in the sunlight, look for makeup with SPF-15 or higher. Always carry blotting papers to rid your skin of oil and freshen makeup throughout the day. Always wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. Consider wearing a hat to protect your hair and scalp, as well as to shade your face.

Beware of emails that have been “making the rounds”, claiming that you can buy some Nordstrom makeup for a dollar. The email says Nordstorm has bought the makeup brand E.L.F. (Eyes, Lips, Face) and claims that as part of the switchover, you can now by E.L.F. Makeup for just one dollar. Nordstrom has confirmed that the email is in fact a hoax. In reality, E.L.F. is an inexpensive makeup brand that has always run one dollar promotions.

Spring is here, and spring cleaning your closet shouldn’t be the only thing on your mind. If you live in the North, where it’s colder, how about updating your look for the warmer weather that’s here or about to happen. How about a celebration of you with a splash of color on the cheeks, eyes and lips.
For a modern, springy feeling, you should put color somewhere on the face. One color, maybe two, even three, but for those who want to start with one color, you might want to opt for a coral or pink blush. From pale white skin, to chocolate or olive-colored, pink goes well with just about all skin tones.
Other stuff to try? If you haven’t already jumped on the mineral makeup bandwagon, you really should. Even to just experiment. Mineral makeup is usually lightweight (unlike typically heavy foundations) and will give your skin a healthy glow instead of the fake, made-up look.
Last word - don’t forget your SPF. No other factor ages the face more than sun damage. Always use a moisturizer with at least SPF 15 to prevent damage.

Saw a news report earlier today that “Girls Aloud” member, Nicola Roberts, has launched her own makeup collection called Dainty Doll. It’s for Jelly Pong Pong, and apparently made especially for “fair-skinned ladies”.
Here’s a quote directly from the Jelly Pong Pong site: “This April, Nicola embraces her natural skin tone with the White Foundation she has created for us. Made for the fair skinned woman, the Dainty Doll range provides an excellent finish, with a perfect palette to work with and wear. Creamy textures and Nicola’s specially selected colours provide an entirely gorgeous look for any wearer.” MORE
