4th of July Beauty Tips

How about sparking your own fireworks this 4th of July? Whether you’re going boating all day, or to a family picnic at the beach, or even later on that night to go watch the fireworks, you can make your own sparks fly with my special 4th of July beauty tips.

  1. Step 1 – Start with a cleanser that suits your skin. How about one that’s a comforting blend of milk and oats and that’s also great for dry sensitive skin.
  2. Step 2 – Follow-up with a cool face moisturizer. How about one that has an SPF 30 and is loaded with antioxidants and blueberries.
  3. Step 3 – How about a gel cleanser that really leaves your skin silky and smooth – and squeaky clean as well.
  4. Step 4 – Moisturize with a matifying lotion – which is perfect for oily skin. It’ll moisturize, and most importantly, without the shine.
  5. Step 5 – It’s July and it’s warm and you don’t want to put on too much make up, but you can keep looking cool by using a light tinted moisturizer or bronzer
  6. Step 6 – Next sweep a neutral color over your lids, and just dot a darker shade such along the lash line.
  7. Step 7 – Add a few strokes of mascara … make your eyes POP like a firecracker!
  8. Step 8 – Last but not least, your lips – try a high-shine tinted lip gloss … great for hot summer days, and guaranteed to have eyes glued to your lips and smile. You can try switching to a darker shade when night falls.

That’s it … now you’re definitely ready to spark some of your own fireworks this 4th of July. Have fun and be safe!

More Modern Furniture Options

Okay, so I’m still busy obsessing about redecorating the house, getting new furniture, and just about anything and everything to get more of the cool jazzy feeling that I’ve gotten from previous purchases and changes around the house. As you prob know if you’ve been keeping up with me, I’ve tried a few online furniture stores with good results, but now I know that the best modern furniture option yet is eroomservice.com. They offer EVERYTHING that’s hip and cool – from modern bedroom furniture (including an awesome platform bed), to amazing living room sets, kids room stuff and tons more!

Naturally, being a little self-obsessed, I checked out their extensive offering of mirrors – they’ve got really nice floor mirrors, cool fly mirrors, freestanding mirrors by Doimo and some nice ones for your dresser as well. If you’re looking to have a cool new look for the summer in a particular room or all over the house, be sure to check out eroomservice.com. Have a great 4th of July!

Get Those ‘Summer Eyes’

Here’s a quick step-by-step guide to a great summer makeup look that accentuates the eyes; get those ’summer eyes’!

  1. Keep the rest of your face neutral; start with a layer of primer to give a nice matte surface. Take a brush and pack on some gold eye shadow – something that’s really vibrant – to just above the eye crease, then take a blender brush and, starting from the outer corner, and blend in along the lid.
  2. Use your finger to dab a tiny amount of primer below your eye. Then, take a dark green eye shadow and, using an angled liner brush, sketch a line from the outer edge.
  3. Get some glow. Try taking a creamy eyeliner pencil and draw it along the waterline. Get some definition with a coat of mascara – to yout lower lashes, too. The aim is to get wispy, defined lashes.
  4. And finally, give yourself one coat of lip gloss. Try a a tea-colored one which doesn’t look too shimmery. To finish up and for an even fresher look, trying adding a dusting of light bronzer.

Sweet Smells For The Bedroom

If you’ve been following my posts for some time, you’ll know that I’m always on a home decorating and improvement ‘trip’, always looking to make my home that much more nicer to be in. Yesterday, I decided I needed some sweet smells for our bedroom, so I was on the hunt for some cool room fragrance options. I came across Sabon NYC (a bath and body store) online, and found a world of room fragrance choices, from reed diffuser oil to drawer liners and aromatherapy oils.

For my bed room fragrance, I chose a vanilla-scented aromatic oil that my husband smelled and liked as soon as he stepped through the door. While I was at it, I also got a sugar scrub (an awesome-looking body scrub) and some essential oils. I truly see my home as my sanctuary, my sacred space, and my bedroom, even more so – I know the sweet smells for my bedroom will help to produce some happy memories; you think!?
